The European Sport Education Information Platform SOPHELIA is ENSSEE's working platform and bundles up to date information about sport education in Europe to its stakeholders. The idea to create an European Sport Education Information Platform was developed by the sport related Thematic Network Project AEHESIS 'Aligning a European Higher Educational Structure In Sport Science' that was funded between 2003 and 2007 by the SOKRATES Programme of the European Commission and coordinated by the Institute of European Sport Development & Leisure Studies at the German Sport University Cologne on behalf of the European Network of Sport Science, Education & Employment - ENSSEE. The Greek name of the Information Platform, Sophelia, was chosen in accordance with the existing European education programmes and originates from the two words Sophia (wisdom) and Ophelia (use) that already refer to the aim of the platform to bundle information about sport education in Europe and to distribute it properly to its stakeholders. In order to gather stakeholders dedicated to Sport Education in Europe, ENSSEE regularly organises a biennial Forum where projects and initiatives developing the sector are presented. Traditionally the ENSSEE Forums´ are meeting points for everybody who is interested in encouraging greater European co-operation in relation to research, education and employment in sport and the increase of mobility and the exchange of students, teaching staff and professionals. Experts from all over Europe are coming together to work on the convergence of education and training systems for sport related professions in the EU. ENSSEE has major experience in different areas which will represent the framework of the Forums´ program. In general the Forum will provide sessions and workshops chaired and held by experts from the areas of Sport Management, Sport Coaching, Physical Education and Health & Fitness (Physical Activity and Life-Style) according to the work carried out through the AEHESIS project.
