The 10th bi-annual ENSSEE Forum in Ragusa/ Italy was officially closed on Saturday afternoon by the re-elected President Prof. Walter Tokarski. After two days of very interesting and intense workshops, plenary sessions and discussions the forum will give directions to a variety of new partnerships, projects and developments.
The current developments of the Bologna Process as well as the further development education in sport in general were the focal points of the 10th ENSSEE Forum. The forum was titled “Best Practice in Sport Education – From Framework to Action” and was held from the 17-19 September 2009 in Ragusa/ Italy.
Experts of the areas Sport Coaching, Physical Education, Sport Management and Physical Activity and Lifestyle came to Ragusa to present and discuss the latest developments in their designated area of sport education. Especially the development of qualification frameworks in these specific areas had been one of the major points of interest throughout the forum.
All participants benefited from the international and cross-institutional approach the ENSSEE Forums always try to establish. Participants of the forum came from universities across Europe, national and international sport federations and ministries. Different perspectives, ideas and projects were shared, discussed and planned.
On the occasion of the General Assembly, that is held at every ENSSEE Forum the new ENSSEE Executive Board was elected. The new board consists of: - President – Prof. mult. Dr. Walter Tokarski (German Sport University Cologne/ Germany)
- Vice-President – Dr. Michel Godard (INSEP/ France)
- General Secretary – Dr. Karen Petry (German Sport University Cologne/ Germany)
- Treasurer – Dr. Ladislav Petrovic (Hungarian Sports Confederation/ Hungary)
- Board Member - Dr. Jolanta Zysko (Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw/ Poland)
- Board Member - Dr. Patrick Duffy (ENSSEE – ECC)
- Board Member - Dr. Joan Janssens (Hanze University Groningen/ The Netherlands)
- Co-opted Board Member – Prof. Dr. Ken Hardman (University of Worcester/ UK)
- Co-opted Board Member – Dr. Pedro Sequeira (ESDRM/ Portugal)
The ENSSEE Office will remain within the Institute of European Sport Development and Leisure Studies of the German Sport University Cologne/ Germany.
The Scuola dello Sport di Sicilia of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) was a great location to host the forum. The excellent work, efforts and kindness of the local organizing committee, the very-well organized social events and the nice Sicilian weather made it hard for all participants to leave the forum. These circumstances allowed ENSSEE to celebrate its 20th anniversary in the best way possible.
In his closing speech ENSSEE President Walter Tokarski was able to look back at a very successful event but did also remind the participants that it will take a lot of work and engagement to reach the goal of a standardized European Higher Education Area. He finished his speech with an outlook towards the 11th ENSSEE Forum which will be held at the Institut National du Sport et de l´Education Physique (INSEP) in Paris/ France.
